July Newsletter

This year the Old-Fashioned Christmas is a two-day Event!

Where has the time gone? Summer is coming to a close and the kiddo’s will be heading back to school.  The July Chamber meeting had another wonderful turnout and was very productive.  A special thank you to Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center who provided lunch.

The members have been actively looking at ways to promote and support businesses along with the communities. So, what is the Chamber changing, you might ask yourself.  One such change is going to take place regarding the yearly Christmas Festival, which is now called “Old Fashioned Christmas”.  The festival will be a two-day event. The membership wanted to bring the event back to the way it was when there was an evening for the families and children.   But they also wanted an event to support the local vendors and businesses.

Day one of the event will take place Friday evening, December 8th from 6 pm to 8:30 pm next to the Trenton Historical Train Depot. The event focuses on the children and families where they can meet Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus, Gift Drawing for the Kids, Entertainment/Choir’s, Treats & Food, and the Chamber is working on returning the Ice Slide.  I want to invite all businesses and organizations to setup a booth to show your appreciation towards the community and share the Christmas Spirit with the guests.

NOTE: there is no cost for businesses to setup to contribute towards the evening of festivities.

Contact the Chamber at Chamber@gilchristcounty.com if you wish to participate or become a sponsor of the event.

Day two of the event will take place Saturday, December 9th from 9 am to 2 pm at the Trenton Community Park. This is the time where businesses, craft and food vendor’s will be selling and offering information to the guests. Tis the season for gift giving and what a great way to sell items before that special day! For more information or to receive a vendor application – contact the Chamber at Chamber@gilchristcounty.com.

Please help welcome our newest members: Keeler Roofing, North Central Florida Hospice (HAVEN), William T. Carlson Masonic Lodge, Boy Scouts of America – Cub Scout Pack & Troop 406. I would also like to give a special “Thank you” for those members who have renewed their annual membership. To join the Gilchrist County Chamber of Commerce simply send a request at Chamber@gilchristcounty.com and the information packet will be sent. One of the new Chamber members posted that they really enjoyed the monthly meeting and that they are looking forward to all of the events. Along with loving how much the Chamber works hard to support the Community! Ending with, It’s a beautiful thing!

Thank you for the kind words, but if it wasn’t for the businesses, organizations, local government officials and community members coming together, this would not happen.

The next Chamber meeting will be held on August 8th at 12 noon, located at the Trenton Community Center.  If you would like to sponsor the lunch, please contact the Chamber at Chamber@gilchristcounty.com.  As a friendly reminder, shop locally to show your support for our businesses! By working together, we build a stronger community.
